If any of you are considering starting your own art/craft/design based business (or looking to make improvements to one you've already started), "School House Craft" is a 3 day conference here in Seattle designed to help creative entrepreneurs gain practical skills and take their business to the next level. They'll have small object photography classes, workshops to help you start/improve your Etsy site, and so much more! SHC is based on the model of the "Conference for Creative Entrepreneurs" which I attended here in Seattle last year - and it was amazing! For more information you can go to www.schoolhousecraft.com.

Also: While stumbling around on the interweb yesterday, I came across Toby Atticus Fraley, from Pittsburgh. He's a painter, a photographer - and has a lovely collection of robots and teapots that he creates out of vintage found objects that he finds at yard and estate sales, ebay etc. You can check him out at Tobyatticusfraley.com.

Thanks so much to all who attended UCU this weekend - what an amazing show! I get such a high from getting to see my customers and hang with my fellow artists n' crafters. I especially love getting to meet new folks - like local poet and pie baking wonder, Kate Lebo. Kate sweetly approached me with interest in one of my one-of-a-kind pieces, and before I knew it we were swapping cherry rhubarb for Mary with rubies! You can find her stories and recipes at goodeggseattle.blogspot.com You can also find her at the StuStuStudio at the next artwalk (August 3rd), where she will be creating a home-baked pie installation. Also on tap will be Crystalyn Cae handbags, screen printed apparel by Gavin Carrol from Lunch Design, collage masterpieces by Marty Gordon, Ugly Baby Shower Art, and fabulous vintage finds by the Pretty Parlor!! xoA

Welcome to the new and improved website... A big THANK YOU to all who encouraged me to get on board and jump into the e-commerce world. Here we are!

If you are around this weekend, don't forget to head down to the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall - Urban Craft Uprising strikes again! 11-5pm, Saturday and Sunday. It's one of the best indy shows around, with over 130 local artists selling hand made apparel, accessories, body products - and more. Keep your eye out for Ugly Baby Shower Art, one of my personal favorites. See you there, xA
